Glasgow International Airport (GLA)
Sited close to Erskine, Paisley and Renfrew, Glasgow International Airport (GLA) is located 13 km / 8 miles west of the city centre and is the gateway to the south and the west of Scotland. Around seven million passengers now fly from Glasgow Airport to over 80 worldwide destinations every year, making this Scotland's busiest airport, closely followed by Edinburgh.
In total there are around 40 different airlines and these include a number of budget services, which operate from the separate Terminal 2 building. The airport's two terminals are home to around 40 gates and are connected by a covered walkway. Glasgow International Airport has recently published a 'Master Plan', which outlines future proposals for growth over the next 20 years or so.
For transport to the city centre, Glasgow Airport (GLA) has frequent shuttle buses that run to and from the city, using the speedy M8 motorway. This includes buses that travel to the rail and bus stations, as well as Clydebank, Greenock and Gourock throughout the day.
The nearest railway station is situated within the nearby town of Paisley and there are several departures to Glasgow city centre, Ayr and the Clyde Coast throughout the day. In addition to buses and trains, a fleet of airport taxis operate 24 hours a day and gather next to the main terminal building.
